PLAN YOUR VISIT

WELCOME HOME!

Relocating to Lakeland?

Looking for different worship experience or a new “church family” in the area?

We know visiting a new place can feel intimidating, so here are seven tips to help you:

  1. Let us know you are coming! Call (863-859-2264) or e-mail ([email protected]) the church office during the week (or send us message through our Facebook page) and we will have an extra greeter ready to help you.
  2. Consider an in-person tour and a chance to meet our Pastor before attending worship. You can usually do that during Pastor’s posted office hours (Monday, 4:30 – 6:30 p.m.; Tuesday, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.; Wednesday and Thursday, 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.; and Sunday, 12 Noon to 2 p.m.) or make an appointment.  You can also “check us out” ahead of time (worship recordings, event details, Bible-based devotions, and more) by visiting our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/lovinglutherans).
  3. PARKING: We have four handicapped spots near the portico (the covered drive-through).  More paved parking is available, but you can also park on the grass under the trees or in the front yard.  You make drop-off passengers at the portico before parking.
  4. ARRIVAL: The door to the left under the portico should be unlocked; if not, please ring the doorbell.  We are “mask optional” and we have a designated section at the rear of the sanctuary for those who want to sit only with other people who are wearing a mask.
  5. GREETING: Just walk-up or roll-up to the podium.  One of our greeters will ask for your name and write it down (or check it off, if you have recently visited).  First-time visitors will be introduced to “their” greeter (possibly a council representative) and given a connection card to fill-out, so that we can stay in touch.
  6. NECESSITIES: Restrooms are located through the double-doors to the right of the water fountains and pictures of council representatives.  Be aware that the room lights will come on automatically!  If you have trouble hearing during the service, let someone know, so we can make adjustments.
  7. WHAT TO EXPECT:
  • People coming dressed as they are (shorts and flip-flops to suits and ties)
  • Bulletins (programs), offering plate, and Disaster Relief jar near the glass doors
  • The baptism font just inside the glass doors
  • More connection cards, offering envelopes, and pencils on the back of cushioned chairs
  • Hymnals (music books) on or under the chairs
  • Instrumental music and Facebook Live starting a few minutes prior to 10:00 a.m.
  • Announcements and a song as we gather (and routine announcements in the bulletin)
  • Traditional liturgy (just follow-along with the bulletin and watch those around you)
  • Bible passages (if the reader wears a mask, they will take it off, for those who lip-reading)
  • Preaching to bring scripture alive today (including a practical application or challenge)
  • More music (organ, piano, chimes, and/or singing)
  • Holy Communion (juice or wine, regular or gluten-free bread, minister will wear a mask)*

* All are welcome; if you choose to not receive communion, please come forward for a spoken blessing with your hand across your chest.  If you need gluten-free bread, please tell the minister.  If you want communion but have difficulty coming forward, please let the usher know and they will make sure a minister comes to your seat.
